The Historic House Rengasdengklok

This trip is only to an old house but, there is a history of the first president in Indonesia! This is the house where his soekarno stayed and was kidnapped precisely in Rengasdengklok. The story is interesting. At the time, the youth initially brought Soekarno-Hatta to the Karawang headquarters, but felt not safe enough from Japanese surveillance. Then, they finally found the house of Djiauw Kie Siong on the banks of the river that looked safer. At the same time, President Soekarno was forced to decide on independence the next day.

Ahmad Soebardjo, Jusuf Kunto, and Sudiro of the elderly finally went to Rengasdengklok to pick up Soekarno-Hatta. They finally arrived in Jakarta at midnight. The next day, on August 17, 1945, the proclamation was announced on East Pegangsaan Street No. 56, Jakarta, and is celebrated as the Independence Day of the Indonesian Nation

.

In it there are still many old items of soekarno remains that are stored quickly. bed and closet is original and not changed at all. the floor is still wearing bricks and, the roof is still using wooden rotan. The resident of this house also has a hidden place, behind this yard there is a small space for him to live. so, this historic house remains the same as before. only a few pole are being renovated so as not to collapse. The distance from Jakarta to Karawang is not too far, but access to this historic house is quite difficult. the path is really narrow and many holes. The entrance to the house is not covered by the surrounding people.
