How i Manage my time During College Break
When the semester ends and college break begins, it often feels like a breath of fresh air. No more deadlines, no more early classes, and no more endless group assignments. But as exciting as it sounds, having too much free time can sometimes feel overwhelming—especially if you're someone (like me) who wants to relax, stay productive, and not waste the entire break binging random YouTube videos.
So, how do I manage my time during college break without losing my mind? I’m still learning and adjusting, but here’s what’s been working for me so far.
Initially, I made a mistake of over-planning every hour of my break, making the entire experience feel more like school than a vacation. Instead, I keep a loose weekly plan. I organize my days into general blocks, such as
- Morning: Making videos , writing
- Afternoon: Play time with friends
- Evening: Watching movies , watching courses
This offers me enough structure to stay on target while also allowing for flexibility
College breaks are quick, so it's tempting to do everything: take an online course, start a business, get active, travel, and reconnect with old friends. And before you realize it, you've gone out or are stuck doing nothing.
Instead, I select only 2-3 concentration areas per break. This time, my primary goals are:
- Improve my public speaking skills through practice and reading.
- Work on a small blogging project.
- Rest and reset mentally.
That is it. Whatever else I achieve is a bonus.
One of the most important things I've learned is that rest is not a waste of time. I used to feel guilty about sleeping in or spending the day relaxing. But breaks are intended to disrupt the routine for a reason. Recharging is also part of growth.
So I incorporate rest into my week—movies, hanging out with friends, or even doing nothing—and I don't feel bad about it.
Managing time during college break should not imply overworking or doing nothing. It's about achieving your own balance between relaxation and productivity. I'm still working everything out, and honestly, some days I don't get anything done, which is fine. The goal is not perfection. It's about making progress, caring for oneself, and staying sane.
So, if you're also on a break right now, take a deep breath, choose a few things that are important to you, and let the rest go. You have earned it.
